چکیده

This study was conducted to assess the potential association between leptin (LEP) gene polymorphisms and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Iraqi patients. Genomic DNA extracted from 120 diabetic subjects 100 controls. Three specific PCR fragments were designed flank three highly frequent single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)s within LEP, rs11761556, rs12706832 rs2167270. The amplified loci genotyped by PCR-single-strand conformation (SSCP) followed Sanger sequencing for representative genotypes. Logistic regression analysis performed detect targeted genetic variants T2DM. PCR-SSCP genotyping showed banding patterns all SNPs. Individuals with AA genotype both rs11761556 SNPs significantly higher (P<0.05) body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), fasting blood glucose (FBG), hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), homeostatic model assessment insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), insulin, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) triglyceride (TG) values than those other Association revealed that individuals A allele exhibited a greater risk of Data present investigation indicated exerted noticeable suggests implementing early detection

The Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in the C-reactive Protein Gene: are they Biomarkers of Cardiovascular Risk?

Recent pre-clinical and clinical studies have revealed the C-reactive protein gene (CRP) is related to the degree of acute rise in plasma C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. Moreover, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CRP gene could associate with increased risk of cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, obstructive pulmonary disease,...

Single nucleotide polymorphisms on SHIP2 is associated with Type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese Han population.

OBJECTIVE Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic disease characterized by insulin resistance in the target tissue of insulin with insufficient insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells. Src homology 2-containing 5'-inositol phosphatase 2 (SHIP2) is a lipid phosphatase that hydrolyzes PI3-kinase product PI(3,4,5)P3 to PI(3,4)P2, which contributes to the negative regulation of insulin signali...

Three single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a Chinese population

An Indian study recently observed three new loci: rs9552911 in the SGCG, rs1593304 near PLXNA4 and rs4858889 in SCAP associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a south Asian population. The present study aimed to validate these findings in a Chinese population. We genotyped the above three single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs9552911, rs1593304, and rs4858889, in a group of 1,972 C...
